In January 2012 Mamata Banerjee or Mamata Bandyopadhyay, the eighth and the current Chief Minister of West Bengali told that in her political career she had drawn inspiration from the works and teachings of Swami Vivekananda.[Ref]

In 2012, on the eve of Swami Vivekananda's 150th birth Anniversary, Mamata Banerjee told—
In the course of the several movements that I led, there would be moments of doubt. There were some who were critical of me and even I wondered that there were so many people who had pinned their hopes on me. What if I were to fail them?   1. Just politics, nothing else. I doubt Mamata Banerjee has any respect for Vivekananda or his ideals.
